David Froemming

David Froemming grew up in Horicon, WI, where he learned the accordion, while also
listening to local Wisconsin Polka stations such as WTKM, Hartford, WI, and WYLO,
in Jackson, WI. David began playing in 1973, while still in High School. Artists
such as Frankie Yankovic, Louie Bashell, Vern Meisner, Roger Bright, and Tony Rademacher
toured his area and influenced his playing style. In addition, a local polka band,
Don Peachey Orchestra, Burnett, WI sometimes hired David when they needed a piano
player. David began song writing after High School, and by 1990 he compiled enough
selections for an album, for his group The Greenspring Band. During this time, he
also composed and recorded a jingle for a polka station in Poynette, WI, 1240 AM,
that featured a solid polka format that included all styles of polkas. The station
received national coverage in Tom Brokaw’s NBC Nightly News Story of the Week, which
included one of David’s WIBU jingles. The Greenspring Band performed for private
and public dances, clubs, and parties. In 2001-
Today, David is a pastor at Christ Lutheran Church, Lancaster, WI, and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Potosi, WI. He has developed a Polka & Praise Service that he performs in his area. David has crafted praise lyrics for a number of standard Slovenian polkas and waltzes, and has now taken polka music into his ministry.
